There is a new Campus Shuttle booking system for our free coach service between Canterbury and Medway campuses. Booking a seat on the service is essential for travel Tuesday 7 February 2023.
You will need to claim your annual travel pass, then you can book your seat(s) up to 2 weeks prior to travelling and up to 30 minutes before you travel. The bookings are applied to your annual travel pass. This can be accessed from the ‘my tickets’ section (the wallet icon if on a mobile). Select ‘View ticket’ and a QR code will appear for the drivers to scan as you board.
We are pleased to announce that from the 1st October, all additional Campus Shuttle coaches will now be provided by Kings Ferry. Full details for the timetable of these services are displayed on our Campus Shuttle webpage. The booking system will be live on our website soon, until then production of your KentOne card is required to board the service.

If it is essential that you be on time then we recommend you catch the earlier service to avoid any disappointment if there are any delays on the roads. We are pleased to announce that from Monday 26th September 2022, the Campus Shuttle will have additional capacity and late night services operating between Canterbury and Medway campuses. The additional coaches put in place this week (WC 26/09/22) will be provided by Grange Travel (see below image) and we hope that Kings Ferry will be able to accommodate the additional services from next week when the booking system should be live on our website. Face coverings are a legal requirement in shops and on all UK public transport. You must wear a face covering throughout your journey, unless you have medical exemptions. This is the law.
On campus, face coverings will be expected in all teaching spaces and communal areas. In shared offices and other spaces, face coverings should also be worn where social distancing cannot be maintained, unless you have medical exemptions.
Following Government instructions in response to the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown, the University of Kent has temporarily suspended the following Campus Shuttle services. If you have booked onto these services your tickets will be automatically cancelled.
Following Government guidelines specific for student travel; during the lockdown period (between 5 November and 2 December). The University will remain open and travel from your term time address to the University for education will continue. If you live at the university, you must not move back and forward between your permanent home and student home. Although if you are a student who normally commutes from your permanent home address to the university, you can continue to do so for the purpose of education.
You must not travel if you are experiencing any coronavirus symptoms, are self-isolating as a result of coronavirus symptoms, are sharing a household or support bubble with somebody with symptoms, or have been told to self-isolate after being contacted by NHS Test and Trace. The fine for breaching self isolation rules starts at £1,000. This could increase to up to £10,000 for repeat offences and the most serious breaches.
The Campus Shuttle is an important service which connects the Medway and Canterbury campuses for staff and students, so we want to make it as efficient as possible. Therefore, The King’s Ferry have been working with ‘Mobile Onboard’ to improve the booking system.
You can now book a seat in advance. Booking a ticket to and from any bus stop, cancelling bookings, viewing all tickets and timetables is quick and easy. Please see our step by step guide on how to book, view and cancel tickets below, it only takes a minute!
Log in using your University of Kent details. The first time you register you will be asked to confirm your email and mobile number.
Choose the directions and the date of travel for your journey and select ‘Search Buses’.
A timetable of the scheduled services will appear, click ‘select’ for the scheduled service in which you wish to book. Check your booking details are correct and press ‘Book Now’.
On your checkout page, confirm that you agree with the storage and handling of your data by this website and press ‘Place order’.
To view your bookings and get mobile ticket:
Go to My Mobile Tickets at the top of the page, next to the University of Kent logo, select the three horizontal lines and then select the option ‘My Bookings’.
A table will appear with all your bookings displayed, if you scroll across to the 6th column you will see the status of your booking.
In the 7th column of the table, select ‘Get Mobile Ticket’ to access your ticket for boarding. You can either print your ticket, or show it on your smartphone when you board the shuttle. Please do not take a photo or screenshot of your ticket, as this can cause issues with the scanner and you may not be able to board.
Please remember to cancel your booking if you no longer require it, so we are able to offer the seat to another commuter. To cancel your seat:
Go to ‘My bookings’ at the top of the page next to the University of Kent logo.
In your bookings table, swipe across to the 7th (last) column titled ‘Action’ and select ‘Cancel Booking’.
The Campus Shuttle service will begin operating again on Saturday 19th September 2020. This is a free service between Medway and Canterbury campus that runs 7 days a week during term time and takes approximately 50 minutes. See timetable online.
During this time, some safety measures have been put in place to ensure you travel in confidence. This includes operating the service at 50% capacity to maintain social distancing. As a result, booking a seat on this service is essential and can be done at https://uok.mymobiletickets.com/webapp/login.aspx up to 30 minutes before you travel. If you are a student who requires a carer to sit next to you whilst travelling the Transport Team are available to assist with your booking.
If you are not travelling before the departure time please ensure you cancel your booking. This enables us to keep track of who has travelled on the service and allows others to book a seat at that time.
Face coverings must be worn at all times. All drivers are temperature checked prior to beginning their shift and all passengers are required to be temperature checked prior to boarding the Campus Shuttle. In the unlikely occurrence of a high temperature, please cancel your booking to travel (if possible) and contact Campus Security on 01227 823333.
Having listened to your suggestions from the recent Campus Shuttle survey, which over 450 staff and students completed, there will be some exciting changes to the service from 14 January.
In response to your feedback:
passengers can now board the Campus Shuttle at Liberty Quays for travel to Pembroke campus and the Dockyard (Western Avenue)
to allow for passenger boarding time without losing the hourly service, the shuttle now only stops once on the Canterbury campus, at Keynes bus stop
the service no longer stops at Darwin bus stop
the on-the-hour timetable continues with some changes to peak travel times to improve reliability

a new booking system allows you to book a seat on the day
we are introducing two new, larger Campus Shuttle vehicles (53 and 34 seaters).
Medway student feedback was clear in wanting the new service from Liberty Quays to the Pembroke campus and the Historic Dockyard. To ensure we can keep an hourly service, the decision had to be made to remove one of the stops at Canterbury. The majority of you in the survey said you’d prefer to keep the Keynes bus stop, or had no clear preference.
Features of the new vehicles include Wi-Fi, USB charging points, more comfortable seats, a toilet and fold out tables on the larger vehicle. Both of the vehicles will be wrapped in a University of Kent design.
The shuttle will start running Monday 14 January. We aim to have the new booking system available by Monday. The booking system is currently being tested. We will tweet from @CampusShuttle when booking becomes available.
