Campus Shuttle booking now available

Booking is now available for the Campus Shuttle. Book a seat online

If you are using the service to travel to exams, be sure to book a seat to guarantee your travel. Where possible, we recommend booking on an earlier service to ensure you arrive in plenty of time for your exams.

The Campus Shuttle starts running again Tuesday 7 May 2019 for the start of the summer term.

The Campus Shuttle is a free coach service between Medway and Canterbury campuses which runs during term-time only.

How far can your Arriva bus pass take you?

Arriva student and staff University discounted bus passes are valid for all Arriva buses in Medway, Kent and East Sussex. See full map for how far you can travel on your bus pass. This includes Maidstone and Gravesend. You can also catch the 700 bus from Chatham to Bluewater shopping centre.

Check out the Arriva webpage for more suggestions of places to shop, eat and drink that you can get to by using the Arriva discounted bus pass.

Remember that all staff and students have access to the promotional codes to purchase these tickets- not only Medway students and staff.

How far can your Stagecoach bus pass take you?

Did you know that Student Unirider bus tickets and staff South East Megarider tickets are valid for any Stagecoach bus in Kent and East Sussex? See the full map for how far you can travel on your bus pass.

 

Canterbury is one of Stagecoach’s main bus stations and therefore connects many different towns in Kent, making it easy to explore the area. This includes coastal towns like Margate, Ramsgate and Sandwich.

Remember that these tickets are available to all staff and students- not only Canterbury students and staff.

Stagecoach changes to bus fares

From Sunday 28 April Stagecoach are changing the price of some of their bus tickets.

Don’t forget that it is cheaper to purchase bus tickets on the Stagecoach bus app. Load and pay for your tickets and then activate them when you get on the bus.

Canterbury campus

Thank you- Applicant Day parking

As Applicant Days have come to a close, we would like to thank everyone who car shared, used alternative transport and worked from home on these days. Thank you for your patience with car park closures during this period to assist with these essential recruitment events.

Motorcycle bays (Sports Centre road and Chipperfield)

The motorcycle bay within Sports Centre road has been permanently closed to assist with the new Medical School, as requested by Estates department.

The motorcycle bay in Chipperfield that was closed while works took place has now been fully reinstated.

Installation of parking bays (rear of Park Wood Admin) – From now until Monday 29 April

19 new parking bays are being installed in the area at the rear of Park Wood Admin building. The installation of these bays replaces the loss of bays that occurred as part of the Woodys development.

Student Centre (Sports Centre pink zone car park)from now until Wednesday 31 July

36 bays will be closed to assist with the building of the Student Centre (SPS and Biosciences), requested by Estates Department.

AMP Public Relations conference (Darwin car park) – Wednesday 17 April

26 Bays will be closed to assist with accessible parking for the AMP Public Relations conference, as requested by The Conference Office.

Professorial inaugural event (Keynes car park) – Thursday 18 April

11 bays will be closed to assist with professorial inaugural event parking. Six bays will be closed to assist government blue badge holders, as requested by the School of Psychology.

Professorial inaugural event (Sports Centre P&D car park) – Thursday 18 April

10 Bays will be closed to assist with professorial inaugural event parking as requested by The School of Psychology.

Medway campus

There are no known car park disruptions to Medway campus for the next two weeks. Any disruptions that we are made aware of will be updated on the transport events calendar

 

 

 

 

 

Sustainability successes at Kent

The 2017-18 Sustainability at Kent report which highlights the University’s sustainability successes has been jointly released by the Estates Department and Safety, Health and Environment Unit.

In March 2018 the University’s Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Karen Cox, signed the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals Education Accord on behalf of the University.

The Sustainability at Kent report gives examples of how as a university we are supporting each of the Sustainable Development Goals and demonstrates how sustainability is being embedded within each of the following areas:

  • Energy and water management
  • Waste and recycling
  • Biodiversity
  • Sustainable transport
  • Construction
  • Procurement
  • Sustainable food
  • Engagement
  • Community
  • Education for sustainable development

Barrier update (Giles Lane car park)

We are in the final testing phase for the Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) barriers. We hope to provide a further update soon about when the barriers will become fully operational.

Extra buses- exams and Easter vacation

As exam time is approaching the Transport Team, Estates department, are working with Stagecoach to provide extra Uni2 buses on Sundays and Bank Holidays Sunday 21 April – Sunday 16 June 2019.

During term-time we provide a 24 hour bus service 6 days a week, serviced by the Uni1, Uni2, 4 and Triangle buses. The additional Uni2 services mean that there will be a 24/7 bus service for this period to help you travel to and from the library to prepare for exams. See additional Uni2 services below.

Easter vacation

The Uni1 and Uni2 buses will also continue to the usual timetable over the Easter vacation (6 April to 6 May 2019) despite being outside of term-time. See usual timetable
