Did you miss our Alumni Talk about Careers in Psychology? Alumni speakers from the School of Psychology discussed their careers in the sector since graduation. Speakers included a Clinical, Forensic, and Educational Psychologist, as well as a Mental Health Adviser with Mind, an HR Manager at Ford Motor Company and a University of Kent TEDX speaker. Get some practical advice and learn about some of the exciting careers paths available with a Psychology degree!

  • Destination Success Bootcamp – 24-26 May

The Careers and Employability Service is launching our first ‘Destination Success Bootcamp’ which is a 3-day intensive training programme with the purpose of helping students to map out their journey to success and build confidence in their abilities. This programme is suitable to those across all years, including recent graduates. We have limited places so would recommend booking early to avoid disappointment.

  • Psychology student wanted for part-time therapy role (Head First)

Head First provides access to mandatory training and brain injury specific training. Head First also provide regular 1:1 clinical supervision and 24/7 emergency on-call support. This is a great opportunity for a therapy assistant to assist a 14 year-old girl with her independence and ongoing rehabilitation.

  • Creative Industries Pathway: Employed vs Self-Employed

Our FREE online workshop next Thursday will consist of careers talks run by leading industry experts, plenty of digital resources and access to mentoring.

We will be joined by a very special guest, Tinique Hay who is a self-made business woman who has launched and grown her business events management company, in the call she will share details regarding her transition between being employed to self-employment and the lessons she learned during this journey.

What do I gain from this Creative Industries Pathway workshop?

  • We will discuss the benefits and challenges with self-employment
  • Things to consider when choosing to be freelance
  • Tips of transitioning between employed and self-employed

Someone will be chosen for a prize at the end of each session!

The event, which will be held on 28th April and hosted by the National Careers Service and IPS, is a Virtual Careers Fair which explores the benefits of Apprenticeships, and current opportunities available to individuals in Kent and Medway.

Over the course of a morning, participants will be able to hear from the National Careers Service, IPS and employers in Kent and Medway who have live apprenticeship opportunities – to date those employers include: Knauf, Uniper, Farmwood, DS Smith and University of Kent.

  • Gray’s Inn GDL Scholarships – applications open! – for non-law graduates

Are you considering a career at the Bar?

 Gray’s Inn has funding available to support students pursuing a career at the Bar of England and Wales. We are currently accepting applications for our GDL Scholarships. All non-law undergraduate students intending to study any full or part time postgraduate law conversion course during the 2022/23 academic year are eligible to apply.

GDL Scholarship funding ranges from £2,500 to £12,000. All scholars receive a minimum of £2,500 before being invited to apply for additional means-tested funding.

In addition, all GDL scholars automatically qualify for a Bar Course Scholarship interview and, if successful at interview, their base financial Bar Course Scholarship award starts at £7,500.

  • The Adobe Digital Edge Awards

an industry-recognised award, which credits the best student examples of digital literacy in the country. This is a fantastic opportunity for students who are applying to placement or grad roles, to demonstrate desirable employability skills such as creative thinking and communication.

From engineering to geography, business to architecture, the Digital Edge Awards are open to all UK university students. To enter, students should submit coursework where they’ve showcased digital literacy skills – that’s work that shows off creative problem solving, critical thinking and visual communication! The awards are judged by a panel of experts, including

the founder of RateMyPlacement, Oliver Sidwell!

As well as the opportunity to receive an accolade for their CV, two winners will receive a £9,250 cash prize, alongside six runner-up prizes of £1,000!
