Human and Social Sciences Employability Events

All this terms careers events will take place online – please click on the links below to join via Teams. We will post recordings of the events here after they take place for those who could not attend on the day.

Week 1 – Wednesday 29th September 2021

12pm -1pm – Employability and Careers for HSS Stage 2 Students

1pm – 2pm – Employability and Careers for HSS Stage 1 Students

Join us for an introduction to the careers, employability and placements support available to you at Kent. Meet the Employability and Placements Officers for your School. Find out how to book a one to one careers chat and what careers events we have coming up. Representatives from the Careers and Employability Service will also be there to talk about how to register with them, sign up for skills events and workshops and earn Employability Points. You will also find out about ASPIRE – the business start up scheme where you can access mentoring and funding for your business idea.

Week 2 – Wednesday 6th October 2021

1pm – 2pm – Employability and Careers for HSS Stage 3 Students

Week 3 – Wednesday 13th October – Careers in the Public Sector

5.30pm – 6.30pm  – EMPFEST Event – “A panel of alumni from the social sciences discuss their Careers in the Public Sector”

A panel of alumni from the social sciences disciplines (HSS) at Kent discussing their careers in the public sector.  The event aims to showcase the wide range of organisations and career paths available to graduates.

Interested in a career that’s rewarding and makes a difference? This is your chance to hear from Kent alumni working for leading public sector employers. We have alumni speaking who work for:

  • Office for National Statistics
  • Met Police
  • NHS
  • University of Kent
  • London South Bank University
  • Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC)
  • The Royal Navy

They’ll share their career backgrounds, career tips, and experiences of working within the public sector. Followed by a Q&A with the audience.

Week 7 – Wednesday 10th November

5.30pm – 6.30pm – Careers in Banking & Finance – A panel of alumni discuss their careers in the Financial Services

Week 10 – Wednesday 1st December

5.30pm – 6.30pm – Careers in the Civil Service – A panel of alumni discuss their careers in the Civil Service and navigating the Fast Stream application process”
