The service is provided by Chris and his team at ByCycle, working with the Transport team within the Estates Department. Bikes are provided by CyclingAge. For more information get in touch with Chris at chris@easybycycle.co.uk.

You can hire a bicycle from Liberty Quays at Medway campus. Simply ask at reception for more information.

Free bicycle checks

Dr Bike will be back at the Canterbury campus during term time to check and adjust your bike. Visit the Cycle Hub on Wednesdays to get your free bicycle health check. The service also returns to Medway from Thursday 18 January and is located outside the Rochester Building.

The University retains its Fairtrade Certification

Thanks to the work of staff and students across the University and Kent Union, the University has successfully renewed its Fairtrade Status for a further 2 years.

Kent became a Fairtrade University in 2006 and has successfully maintained this status ever since; demonstrating our commitment to sustainable procurement and recognising our responsibility as a buyer with influence.

Being a Fairtrade University means we’re committed to making more Fairtrade products available on campus and raising awareness of Fairtrade.

Products which carry the FAIRTRADE Mark guarantee a fair deal to producers in developing countries to help them work their way out of poverty.  Fairtrade producers also receive a ‘community premium’ to invest in local health or education provision or improved production methods, and are committed to farming in ways which respect the environment.

The University has a Sustainable Food Steering Group that is made up of representatives from Commercial Services, Kent Union and the wider University as well as student members and as a group they are responsible for ensuring the continuation of the University’s Fairtrade Status.

For more information about Fairtrade or to get involved please visit the website or email sustainability@kent.ac.uk

Last few days of Travel Plan Survey 2017

The staff and student Travel Plan Survey 2017 closes on Friday 8 December 2017.

Don’t miss the chance to have your say and potentially win £100 cash card to use at the catering outlets on campus, or one of 100 hot drinks vouchers. Just enter your University of Kent email address at the end of the survey to enter the prize draw.

Let us know how we can improve travel to, from and around our campuses. The data from the survey helps shape various reports including the University Travel Plans and the Movement and Transport Strategy which feeds into the Canterbury campus 50-year Masterplan.

This is your opportunity to let the Estates Department know how we can improve travel to, from and around our campuses. Have your say on buses, cycling, parking, the Campus Shuttle and more.

The survey takes between 5-10 minutes to complete. There is also a “finish later” option if you need to return to complete the survey.
