CantiaQuorum explore musical ‘borrowings’ next week

Friday 20 November, Colyer-Fergusson Hall, 19.30

Hot on the heels of its recent sensational lunchtime concert, our resident ensemble, CantiaQuorum, returns to Colyer-Fergusson next week in a programme exploring the idea of musical ‘borrowings.’

Our professional ensemble brings a concert including Mendelssohn, Bartok, Shostakovich and Schnittke to the concert-hall, inspired by Stravinsky’s memorable statement, ‘Lesser artists borrow, great artists steal.”

The group will be joined by pianist Libby Burgess for Shostakovich’s Piano Concerto no.1 for piano and trumpet, and the programme also includes Bartok’s ‘Romanian Dances for string orchestra’ alongside pieces by Schnittke and Galton.

We’re still reeling from the group’s recent, electrifying lunchtime concert; don’t miss the opportunity to hear them in action once more! Full details: http://kent.ac.uk/music/whatson.html?tab=november
