CPP Head becomes Chairman of British Association of Dental Nurses Executive Committee

Head of Centre for Professional Practice Debbie Reed has taken up the post of Chairman of BADN’s new Executive Committee at the AGM held on 24 October at the NEC, Birmingham.

Debbie is a Senior Lecturer and Head of the Centre for Professional Practice at the University of Kent, she remains the academic lead for dentistry, and since joining the University in 2007 has been instrumental in the design, development, validation and delivery of postgraduate and validated programmes for dental nurses, other DCPs and dentists such as the Foundation Degree in Advanced Dental Nursing, the MSc in Primary Dental Care and the Applied Dental Professional Practice MSc pathway.

Debbie will chair the new BADN Executive Committee, a streamlined, more flexible, more effective version of the former BADN Council  which was introduced through the new BADN Constitution agreed at an Extraordinary General Meeting held in Manchester in July. The Executive Committee consists of the Chairman, President Jane Dalgarno, Finance Officer Hazel Coey, Education Representative Heidi Cresswell and interim Student Representative Alisa Yalcin.

A Registered Dental Nurse, Debbie an advocate of lifelong learning, and is currently a doctoral student with the University of Nottingham, having graduated from the University of Southampton with a BA(Hons) in Post Compulsory Education and from the University of Portsmouth’s Business School with an MSc in Human Resource Development. She also holds a post-graduate teaching certificate in Higher Education and a Certificate in Post Compulsory Education; and was awarded a Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy in 2011. She is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personal Development and a member of the NEBDN Panel of Examiners.
