A closely-fought end to the Vice-Chancellor’s Cup 2016

The Vice-Chancellor’s Cup is over for another year, and what a year it has been! With two new teams, and a total of twenty departments taking part, we have got a great deal of satisfaction out of seeing so many members of staff having fun and getting active. Not only has this year been thoroughly enjoyable, it has also been very competitive with a record number of departments winning mini trophies for individual rounds.

To make things even more interesting, the Vice-Chancellor’s Cup itself was actually won in the VERY last round of the very last event, the quiz. Going in to the quiz, four points separated the top three teams, and there were only 10 point between first and fifth. It came down to Kent Sport, last year’s victors, and EDA (the School of Engineering and Digital Arts), one of the smallest departments at the University. The infallible EDA took the title beating Kent Sport by only two points and Kent Business School coming a respectable third. We must also congratulate Big Society (SECL/SSPSSR) for dominating the quiz throughout – unfortunately they left it a little late to gain enough points to reach the overall top spot.

Huge congratulations must go to all the departments this year for making it such a pleasure to run the Vice-Chancellor’s Cup. Particular mention should go to Famy Rashid and her team at EDA for showing such commitment and enthusiasm, a department truly worthy of the crown.
