Book your tickets now for the new University of Kent Players’ production – Agatha Christie’s A Murder is Announced at the Gulbenkian from Wednesday 8 to Saturday 11 October.
A proportion of ticket sales, together with proceeds from programme sales, will be donated to Age UK in Canterbury and Ashford. The Gulbenkian will also make a donation based on sales of a special ‘Delicious Death’ chocolate cake. At each performance, volunteers from Age UK will be on hand to talk about their work locally.
Zarina Hawkins, Head of the Publishing Office who is directing and starring in the play, explained why the Players have chosen to support Age UK: ‘The play features Christie’s well-loved female sleuth, Miss Marple – an older person who is lucky enough to be very capable both mentally and physically, and is very much part of her society. We realised that not everyone was that lucky but, thanks to the work of Age UK, many older people have somewhere to turn for help and social interaction.’
A Murder is Announced takes place in the village of Chipping Cleghorn, when an unusual announcement in the newspaper leads the curious villagers to Miss Blacklock’s home, where they become witnesses to a murder. In true Agatha Christie style, there are mixed motives, concealed identities, a determined inspector following the twists and turns, and Miss Marple on hand to provide the final solution – at some risk to herself!
Tickets are on sale now, priced £12 full and £8 concessions, in person at the Gulbenkian Box Office or online.
