Study Plus: Journaling Tools to help Manage Time, Efficiency and Wellbeing by Esther van Hout
11am-12:30pm This workshop can help with situations as varied as gaining confidence in writing, exploring personal challenges or keeping organised. This workshop explores a variety of techniques that you can take away and use immediately, designed to support self-care, creativity and life management skills. A variety of practical exercises and readings will be provided. It is suitable for all standards of writing.
Study Plus – Language taster session – Arabic (online & in person)
2-3pm Discover World Languages Taster Sessions are for beginners who would like to have a taster session of the Arabic language. No previous experience with the Arabic languages is required. Through an introduction of the habits and culture, you will gain some understanding of key traditions, learn and pronounce a range of simple key words, engage in basic everyday communication, introduce yourself in the target language, learn simple greetings and farewell phrases.
Study Plus – Language taster session – Mandarin (online & in person)
3-4pm Discover World Languages Taster Sessions are for beginners who would like to have a taster session of the Mandarin language. No previous experience with the Mandarin language is required. We will be joined by some of our very own Consultants who have completed their training and are now working on client site. Hear about their journey going through the programme and ask all of your questions.
1-3pm Understanding sustainability and the problems and opportunities that surround it helps to build a number of key employability skills that will translate in your future career and enable you to embed sustainability into wherever your future takes you. It is a strategic objective of the University to ensure that all students have access to learning, teaching and research that enhances understanding of sustainability.

Study Plus – What to do in the first 3 months of your role? by Steve Haines
1-2pm The move from university to work is a huge shift in culture, expectations and measures of success. This session is about starting out in work. The session shares tips on receiving feedback and how to action it, advice on how to be yourself at work and evidence based approaches to supporting your wellbeing. It also includes some practical exercises on how to plan your first three months and get ready for your six month probation.

The Slaughter and May Innovation Competition is an exciting opportunity for law and non-law students to develop their creative thinking skills by considering what the future might look like for the legal sector and what the next big disruption might be.
Applicants are asked to submit a response, in any format they deem appropriate (for example video, podcast, blog post), to one of two set questions by 4 April 2022 for a chance to win £1,000 cash prize and a work placement within the Knowledge & Innovation team at Slaughter and May. The applicants who come in second and third place will win £500 and £250 respectively.

How can law firms innovate to ensure that environment, social and governance (ESG) goals are met internally and for their clients?
OR
What can law firms do to help individuals maintain and develop personal relationships in the hybrid/virtual world of work?
