The Psicon Group is a specialist psychological and health service provider focusing on: Adult Mental Health Services; Child, Young People and Family Services; Community-Based Neurological Rehabilitation Services; Occupational Health Psychology Services; Medico-Legal Services; and Neurodevelopmental Lifespan Services. They are looking for a Psychology student volunteer to assist with data entry and gain valuable work experience. This funding will contribute towards the cost of transport, accommodation, training, childcare, or uniform.

To be eligible, you must be:

  • Be undertaking work which is considered graduate-level or attending a training / networking opportunity that will support your employability upon graduation.

Study Plus: How to Manage Stress and Anxiety with Mindfulness by Esther Van Hout, 11:00-12:30, Online

Building mindfulness skills is now a part of training programmes in many organisations and taught at Google, Intel and Goldman Sachs. Scientific research is convincing them that investing in mindfulness skills will help boost resilience to stress and improve mental focus which will have a positive impact on employees and the organisation.

This practical workshop will give you an introduction to research-based strategies for coping with stress and anxiety. We will focus on how mindfulness practice can give us tools to build our resilience in the face of study, work and life challenges. Research shows that this helps to reduce the levels of stress we experience and makes us more able to focus, improve creativity and make better decisions. We will practice mindfulness exercises and techniques together, which you can continue to use after the workshop.

Study Plus Inclusive Careers: Imposter Syndrome by Sal Pearman, 12:30-15:00, Online

As much as we want to stay optimistic, focussed, and productive, it can be very easy to slip into negative patterns of thinking. To ask, “Am I good enough?”, “Can I do this?”, “Am I a fake?”. With the huge impact of a more digital and global community it’s easy to feel less capable, less confident, and perhaps less worthy than our peers.

This half-day workshop will demystify the truth behind Imposter Syndrome and will provide practical tools and techniques to accurately understand, communicate and celebrate our abilities.

Over the half-day workshop, we will cover:

  • What is Imposter Syndrome (is it a real thing?)
  • How we might experience Imposter Syndrome and how it can impact us
  • How to accurately label our skills and experiences

Study Plus Navigating workplace etiquette and the importance of it for a graduate role – by Steve Haines, 11:00-12:00, Online

This session is about the everyday of work.

It covers:

  • What makes a good team member, your role in a team and how these can change depending on the role and type of organisation
  • The link between behaviours at work and perceptions of performance
  • The dos and don’ts of phones and social media in work
  • The practical, often unspoken, rules, from time keeping, to what to wear (even more confusing in our new hybrid world!) to what is expected in 1:1s
  • Office politics, reading team dynamics and resolving conflict in teams
  • The session shares some practical exercises that help attendees to understand how to approach new situations and tips on how to build good relationships with teams.

Assessment Centres are a common part of the graduate recruitment process, with group exercises being a key task. This is an interactive workshop, where you will practice a selection of group exercises and receive group feedback, to give you practical experience. Exercises will be common to assessment centres across different sectors so will focus on the skills element rather than industry specific knowledge.

The Adobe Digital Edge Awards,

an industry-recognised award, which credits the best student examples of digital literacy in the country. This is a fantastic opportunity for students who are applying to placement or grad roles, to demonstrate desirable employability skills such as creative thinking and communication.

From engineering to geography, business to architecture, the Digital Edge Awards are open to all UK university students. To enter, students should submit coursework where they’ve showcased digital literacy skills – that’s work that shows off creative problem solving, critical thinking and visual communication! The awards are judged by a panel of experts, including

the founder of RateMyPlacement, Oliver Sidwell!

As well as the opportunity to receive an accolade for their CV, two winners will receive a £9,250 cash prize, alongside six runner-up prizes of £1,000!

Legal Cheek is hiring a junior virtual events coordinator to join our growing team.

The role can be done from anywhere in the UK. You’ll be working from 9-5:30 (37.5 hours per week), with a video meeting with the rest of the Legal Cheek team at the beginning and the end of each day, as well as regular contact with the team through Slack.

You’ll be part of a team managing, coordinating and administering our busy programme of virtual student events and law fairs.

Duties include processing event applications; corresponding with attendees; liaising with law firms, law schools and partner organisations about event logistics; and assisting at virtual events.

Qualities that we are looking for:

  • Very well-organised
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Conscientious
  • Good time-management and ability to multi-task
  • Experience of holding positions of responsibility
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal) and friendly manner
  • Social media savvy
  • Proficiency in Excel
  • Willing to muck in as part of a team

A legal background is not essential but the role would suit a recent law graduate interested in either pursuing a career in events, or looking to gain experience of the legal industry before securing or starting a training contract. For the right candidate there will be opportunities to progress and take on more responsibility.

The starting salary for this position is £20,000, with a homeworking allowance. You will be provided with a company laptop.
