Stress is something that affects everyone. It causes students to feel overwhelmed with their studies, accounts for huge percentages of absences at work, and can negatively impact our mental and physical health. Simply said if you do not take a proactive step to manage stress it could have terrible consequences.
This 90-minute workshop looks at what stress is and explores some of the benefits as well as the negative impacts of stress. Most importantly this workshop will provide you with practical tools you can implement to manage stress.

Often one of the areas that feels the most intimidating about Equity Diversity and Inclusion is communication. It can feel as though you have to be a poet or a philosopher to get involved with conversations about inclusion and identity. There can be fear about not having the ‘right words’ or not knowing enough about a topic to contribute meaningfully.
The focus of this session the focus will be around language, phrasing, championing and challenging. We will share best practice models, research and advice to ensure attendees feel confident to talk about Equality and Identity in an inclusive and thoughtful way. In the workshop we will explore:

Choosing between the LPC and the SQE, 13:00-14:00, Keynes KLT5, Canterbury Campus
Please note that this is mainly a discussion session – a chance for you to ask questions and seek clarification.
We’ll start with a refresher / an overview of the differences between the LPC and the SQE and bring you up to date with the latest news about the SQE including how the first set of examinations went. The main focus, however, will be an open Q&A. If you are still not sure which qualification is right for you or need clarification about anything please come along.
The session will be led by Jayne Instone, Senior Careers Adviser with a specialism in Law. Jayne has been keeping up to date with the SQE news. Whilst she may not know all of the answers, she will know how to find them! See you there.

Study Plus Inclusive organisations: What is Intersectionality? By Sal Pearman, 10:00-12:30, Online
Intersectionality is a term created by Kimberlé Crenshaw over 30 years ago to describe how race, class, gender, and other identity markers “intersect” with one another and overlap.
In this half-day workshop, we will firstly spend time understanding what Crenshaw meant by the term ‘intersectionality’ – a term created by a Black woman to explore gender and race. Then we will spend time reflecting and discussing what intersectional thinking would look like for us. And how that might shape our planning, decision making, leading, and harm reduction.
Over the half-day workshop, we will cover:
- Who is Kimberlé Crenshaw and what is intersectionality?
- Context is key: understanding the origins of the term
- What does intersectional thinking look like?
- How we can apply intersectionality to anti-oppression and inclusion work

- The Adobe Digital Edge Awards
This is an industry-recognised award, which credits the best student examples of digital literacy in the country. This is a fantastic opportunity for students who are applying to placement or grad roles, to demonstrate desirable employability skills such as creative thinking and communication.
From engineering to geography, business to architecture, the Digital Edge Awards are open to all UK university students. To enter, students should submit coursework where they’ve showcased digital literacy skills – that’s work that shows off creative problem solving, critical thinking and visual communication! The awards are judged by a panel of experts, including
the founder of RateMyPlacement, Oliver Sidwell!
As well as the opportunity to receive an accolade for their CV, two winners will receive a £9,250 cash prize, alongside six runner-up prizes of £1,000!

The games industry is booming with more people than ever before consuming video game content. How can I be a part of creating this? There are a huge range of entry routes into the games industry and this session will cover a variety of these options.
Games designers come from a wide range of backgrounds and prior experiences, with qualifications from across the arts, sciences and humanities.
Thursday 17th March, 4:30pm – Directing and Producing Television Entertainment
Are you interested in pitching, producing and directing your own TV shows? Could you create a hit format like Strictly Come Dancing, The Apprentice or Gogglebox? Would you like to direct a rock band in a multi-camera studio or shoot a show on location?
Join NFTS Head of TV Entertainment, David G. Croft, who will introduce you to the range of careers available within television.
This would be suitable for your students studying courses such as media production, television production, digital media, journalism, media studies, television studies, communication, visual arts and moving image.

Cinematography is an essential part of filmmaking – visual storytelling is emphasised alongside the art of creating mood and evoking emotion through the right combination of composition and lighting. The Slaughter and May Innovation Competition is an exciting opportunity for law and non-law students to develop their creative thinking skills by considering what the future might look like for the legal sector and what the next big disruption might be.
Applicants are asked to submit a response, in any format they deem appropriate (for example video, podcast, blog post), to one of two set questions by 4 April 2022 for a chance to win £1,000 cash prize and a work placement within the Knowledge & Innovation team at Slaughter and May. The applicants who come in second and third place will win £500 and £250 respectively.
Applicants are asked to submit a response to one of the following two questions:
How can law firms innovate to ensure that environment, social and governance (ESG) goals are met internally and for their clients?
OR
What can law firms do to help individuals maintain and develop personal relationships in the hybrid/virtual world of work.
