The University is undertaking a project to review our approach to achieving excellence in education and the student experience through its key people practices, known as the Recognising Excellence in Education Project (REEP). The project draws on commitments in the University of Kent’s Education and Student Experience Strategy, the People Strategy and national sector initiatives, particularly the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF). The University is keen to build on its recent success in being awarded a Gold rating in the TEF.
REEP’s Executive sponsor is Professor April McMahon, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Education, who also chairs the project Steering Group. The Steering Group comprises a cross-section of academics, the Director of UELT, the President of the Student Union and three members of HR.
In order to evaluate our current approaches and to ensure the views of all key stakeholders are included in any recommendations for the future, we are very keen to hear from any academic whose practice is focused on teaching (to include teaching scholarship and teaching leadership) and who would like to discuss their career progression in the University. We are able to offer a confidential individual meeting with Professor April McMahon (Deputy Vice-Chancellor Education), Tina Edwards (Assistant Director of Learning & Organisational Development), or Naa Pinkcombe (HR Project Manager). The scope of the discussion can be led by each individual, subject only to keeping within the remit of the project. We would particularly like to hear views on the support for and recognition of teaching achievement through our people processes such as promotion, appraisal, and salary review.
If you would like to assist with this project please send an email in confidence to Naa Pinkcombe by Friday 22 September 2017.
