On Wednesday 25 March, 2015, at 6pm in Rutherford Lecture Theatre One, The Rt Hon the Lord Boateng, PC DCL will give a Rutherford Grass Roots Lecture (organised in conjunction with the English Speaking Union).
The lecture title:
‘Unlocking potential, the role of higher education in addressing the global challenges of growth, inequality and environmental sustainability’.
Before joining the House of Lords in 2010, the Rt Hon the Lord Boateng, PC DCL held a range of UK Parliamentary posts. He was a Member of Parliament between 1987 and 2005, and served as a Cabinet Minister and Chief Secretary to the Treasury under Tony Blair. This was followed by four years (2005-2009) as British High Commissioner to South Africa. Lord Boateng, who spent much of his childhood in Africa has extensive knowledge of Africa and African issues and is a frequent public speaker in Europe, Africa and the US. Lord Paul Boateng is a barrister of Grays Inn, a legal consultant and Chairman of the English Speaking Union.
