About the Summer Analyst Internship Programme

This is a ten-week programme designed to fully immerse you in the day-today activities of one of Goldman Sachs’ divisions. The programme starts with a firmwide orientation where you’ll learn about their culture, as well as the benefits and responsibilities of being a member of Goldman Sachs. You will also receive division-specific training designed to help you succeed in your division.

After training, you will receive real responsibilities to give you a sense of what you would be doing, day to day, as a full-time Goldman Sachs employee. Along with fellow interns, you will work alongside leaders within the industry. Successful Summer Analysts may be invited back to join the New Analyst programme in a full time position.

About the Human Capital Management Division

Human Capital Management (HCM) is responsible for attracting, developing and managing the firm’s biggest asset: their people. HCM is organized into the following teams;

Divisional Generalists/Client Service Teams

Human Capital Management teams work closely with divisional leadership to address on-going and strategic business issues. Each division within the firm has its own dedicated Human Capital Management Generalist team to address the needs of a particular client group.

Employee Relations

Employee Relations is a risk management function that works to uphold the firm’s business principles and policies, and safeguard the firm from legal or reputational risk relating to employment issues. The group provides strategic advice to managers and employees on a broad range of workplace issues.

Human Capital Management Finance

HCM Finance is responsible for HCM Business Planning, which requires working with Controllers, the Executive Office and the broader finance community to determine business planning requirements and then applying them to HCM.

Human Capital Management Technology Strategy and Services

HCM Technology Strategy and Services is responsible for driving HCM’s technology-related strategy and ensuring they are partnering with Goldman Sachs IT to implement leading edge technologies that optimize process efficiency. The team also works to provide best in class HR Service Delivery practices globally.

Human Capital Management Strategy and Management

The Human Capital Management Strategy and Management team focuses on a variety of strategic business and human capital related needs and facilitates global cooperation and coordination across the division.

Global Leadership and Diversity

Talent Assessment Group

The Talent Assessment Group enhances the firm’s competitive advantage by partnering with senior leadership to develop talent, identify future leaders, measure employee engagement, facilitate their 360 performance reviews, and conduct research on key people issues.

Recruitment

Graduate Recruitment helps devise and execute the firm’s entry level recruiting strategy, including building and maintaining relationships, marketing the firm to selected universities, facilitating the candidate offer and on campus acceptance process, and executing summer internship programs.

Experienced Hire Recruitment partners with their internal clients to identify and attract experienced professionals to the firm, as well as managing opportunities for internal mobility.

Goldman Sachs University and Pine Street

The Pine Street Leadership Development Group and Goldman Sachs University (GSU) develop and execute solutions to address key organizational, cultural and people development issues that impact their businesses. Committed to helping their people develop personally and professionally, they offer a range of growth and development opportunities to all of their employees at every stage of their careers. GSU focuses on the development of analysts, associates and VPs while Pine Street focuses on the leadership development of managing directors and partners of the firm.

Talent Management Services

Talent Management Services creates operational efficiencies across the Talent Management functions by providing process, systems and project management expertise as well as reporting and financials.

Human Capital Management is at the forefront of change within the firm and they need people who want to help drive that change. They are looking for people with strong analytical and communication skills, enthusiasm, creativity and intellectual curiosity. Their team is comprised of individuals who understand people, process, technology and operations.

Their work is fast-paced and requires individuals to be proactive and have strong business acumen. HCM works across the organization and with a variety of important stakeholders. An interest in the firm’s different products and an understanding of the financial markets is strongly recommended.

As an intern you will be placed with one of the specialist HCM teams. Each team has an area of focus within the organization, from the ‘Generalists’ who work to address specific divisional needs, to the ‘Talent Assessment Team’ who coordinates the firm’s annual performance.

Regardless of your specialization, you will work with your team to solve real business problems with your internal clients.

During the internship programme you will receive both formal and informal training. You will develop analytical and broad human resources skills while also receiving more specific training suited to your HCM functional alignment.
