Applications now open for NatWest Insight Weeks for Women. This is a great way to learn more about NatWest and a career in banking; network with colleagues to hear about their experience and get a feel for the culture. The programme will run over four days from 30th August to 2nd September 2022.

  • POLIR students wanted for model NATO event

The British International Studies Association (BISA) in partnership with the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) will be holding the annual flagship model NATO event in March 2022. As in previous years, 15 universities from across the UK will be taking part. Through their participation in the event, student-delegates will learn, through simulation, how NATO works and the significance of the Alliance for UK and European defence.

Monday 31st January

BAE Systems careers: Video interviews and Strength based interviews – webinar – 14:00 – 15:00

Workshop 7, which is the last session of this programme, celebrates Chinese New Year, one the most important traditional festival in China and amongst overseas Chinese.

Thursday 3rd February

Getting the most out of your careers service – 11:00 – 12:00

This session will take you on a tour of the resources and services on offer to you at the Careers and Employability Service.

Commercial Awareness – 12:00 – 13:00

This workshop will explain what commercial awareness is, how employers test for it during the recruitment process, how to make yourself more commercially aware and some useful techniques to help you demonstrate this.

Finding a graduate job – 13:00 – 14:00

This session will focus on finding graduate work, including graduate schemes, graduate jobs and job-hunting methods (proactive and reactive methods), plus application tips!

Careers in Social Justice and Policy – 13:00 – 14:00

This workshop will look at careers such as a journalist, victim advocate, social worker, community developer, charity officer, social researcher and policy officer.

Study Plus – presentation skills by Kate Gardner – 10:30 – 12:00

This workshop will give tips to beat nerves, introduce some tools and models for presenting and give the opportunity to practice.

Virtual assessment centres – 12:00 – 13:00

This session will cover virtual assessment centres and how they work in practice, the types of exercises, what to expect with a case study and group tasks and top tips for an assessment centre – before and on the day!

Study Plus -Coaching Skills by Jeffrey Wotherspoon – 14:00 – 16:00

This 2-hour workshop course will provide you with useful communication and leadership skills that will enhance your ability to build relationships and gain respect.

Accenture Graduate Schemes – Empowering Female Future Events in Software, Technology and Cyber Security on 17th and 22nd February

Accenture are looking for female-identifying STEM students graduating in 2022 for their Technology Architecture, Software Engineering Graduate and Cyber Security Graduate programmes. They’re running a series of Empowering Female Future events for students interested in finding out more about life at Accenture, and applying to their programmes.

Technology Architecture: the chance to explore technically complex solutions this scheme is for female identifying students studying STEM or business-related degrees, graduating in 2022.

To apply, students must complete the relevant 5-minute application form above. If their application is approved, they will be invited to complete a short online assessment.

Following this, successful candidates will be invited to attend the Empowering Futures Technology / Software event on the 17th of February or the Empowering Futures Cyber Security event on 22nd February.

At the online session students will hear from female technology leaders and graduates at Accenture, learn about the roles on offer, the application process, and the amazing technologies Accenture work with. There will also be plenty of opportunities to ask questions.

Students will then be able to progress through the Accenture Graduate Programme application process for the scheme they have applied for.

 

Slaughter & May – Innovation Competition 2022

The Slaughter and May Innovation Competition is an exciting opportunity for law and non-law students to develop their creative thinking skills by considering what the future might look like for the legal sector and what the next big disruption might be.

Applicants are asked to submit a response, in any format they deem appropriate (for example video, podcast, blog post), to one of two set questions by 4 April 2022 for a chance to win £1,000 cash prize and a work placement within the Knowledge & Innovation team at Slaughter and May. The applicants who come in second and third place will win £500 and £250 respectively.

Applicants are asked to submit a response to one of the following two questions:

How can law firms innovate to ensure that environment, social and governance (ESG) goals are met internally and for their clients?

OR

What can law firms do to help individuals maintain and develop personal relationships in the hybrid/virtual world of work?
