Working in the National Probation Service – SSPSSR – Wednesday 18 Oct 14.00-15.30

Two practice assessment tutors will be giving a presentation on their work in the learning and development section of the local region of the National Probation Service (NPS) and the work of and careers opportunities in the NPS. The NPS is the part of the recently formed HMPPS (Her Majesty’s Prison & Probation Service) responsible for carrying out risk assessments of all offenders in the community and for directly working with offenders who are assessed as posing the highest risk to the public and/or who have committed the most serious offences. These two staff members will be accompanied by a newly qualified colleague who will be able to give you a good understanding of how training as a probation officer works and what the job of a probation officer is like from a ‘grass roots’ level. There will be an opportunity to ask questions and to meet with the presenters after the presentation.
