Volunteering Opportunities with the regional probation service – KSSCRC

Kent, Surrey and Sussex Community Rehabilitation Company (KSS CRC) deliver a range of rehabilitation services to people who have been sentenced by a court to either custody or community supervision and who are classed as low to medium risk.

KSSCRC are currently recruiting Volunteer Mentors to support individuals to improve areas of their lives they have identified as problematic. This could be in housing, addiction, relationships, budgeting, health, how they view themselves and the world around them or education, training and employment.

Working as a volunteer can provide a valuable insight into the work of probation staff, and the people with whom they work. No formal qualifications are needed, just an open mind, a desire to help others and a few spare hours per week.  Volunteers will receive three days of initial training and be subject to vetting procedures. and be over 18 years of age.

After completing training and once you are participating as a volunteer you would be able to undertake further training via the KSSCRC staff development programme which might include pro social modelling, mental health, domestic abuse. (the volunteering and training would also enable you to network with professionals working in probation.
