Research Opportunities in Japan for young British researchers.

 The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) organises an annual summer program to provide fellowships for young researchers to conduct research in Japan. The program provides an opportunity for young researchers to experience Japanese culture and conduct collaborative research with leading research groups at Japanese universities and research institutions over a period of two months during the summer.

 The JSPS Summer Program 2016 is now open for applications. 10 fellowships will be granted in FY 2016. Successful candidates must conduct their fellowship in Japan during the period of 14 June – 24 August 2016. Applicants must be British nationals and be a PhD or MPhil student at a British university at the time of application. The fellowship includes return airfare, maintenance allowance, domestic research trip allowance and overseas travel insurance.

Logo Design Competition:

Do you fancy designing a logo?

Sexual Respect@Kent is seeking a logo design that reflects its work and invites you to enter the logo design competition. The competition is open all students from the University of Kent. The winning entry will become the logo for Sexual Respect@Kent and the winning designer will receive gift vouchers, recognition on our blog and also employability points that will add to your CV.

The logo design should,

  • be simple, clearly reflecting the work of the group.  Sexual Respect @ Kent is a committed group of staff and students working to end sexual violence at the University of Kent and to promote sexual respect generally.

integrate the name of the group ‘Sexual Respect@Kent’ with or without any images or symbols.

  • be suitable for multiple reproductions.
  • use no more than three colours for ease of printing.
  • use no designs or artwork that either copyrighted or too similar to other logos.

Entries should be submitted in a simple colour .pdf or .jpeg format, although a high resolution graphic will be needed of the winning design. Entrants may enter multiple designs. Entries should be submitted electronically to sexualrespect@kent.ac.uk and the submission deadline for the competition is 15 January 2016

Vacancies:

Administrator – Ashford Counselling Service:

Ashford Counselling Service is an independent voluntary organisation providing counselling services to people over 16 in Ashford district area.

They are currently looking for a part-time administrator to work 8 hours per week at £7.50 per hour.

You will be responsible for providing administrative support to the Business and Clinical Managers.

Volunteer:

Support Warden – Kent County Council (KCC):

KCC is looking for someone who is enthusiastic, interested in their local community and enjoys engaging with people. You’ll work alongside the Community Warden getting to know your local community, making a difference to residents and creating resilient neighborhoods.

The role will be challenging at times but rewarding and you’ll be improving the well-being of the residents in your local area. You’ll meet new people, learn new skills, gain valuable experience and provide important support to local residents.

Environmental Champion (work placement) – Kent Enterprise Trust:

 You will work closely with the Kent Enterprise Trust team to raise awareness about environmental issues with all their tenants and customers.

Hours of work: 2 full 7.5 hour days per week. The placement will run for one month.

You will gain experience of working in a busy office environment and in marketing and promoting environmental issues. You will gain knowledge of running events, raising awareness of conservation, working with the customers and tenants. A reference will be given on request.
