Volunteer – Canterbury Food Bank:

Would you like to help support a collection drive for Canterbury Food Bank on Saturday 5th December?

This is an excellent opportunity to support one of our community’s much-needed services, and to find out what volunteering is all about. You’ll get to meet a bunch of new people, and staff from Canterbury Food Bank, who will be supporting one another throughout the day to staff the collection point and encourage customers to donate items to the food bank.

The collection drive will be running at the Waitrose store in Canterbury, just the other side of the bus station, between the hours of 9am – 5pm. You can give as much or as little time as you can, whether it’s one hour, four hours, or all day.

Collections drives like this are crucial for Canterbury Food Bank – it helps to spread the word to local residents in Canterbury about the service, and gives them the chance to do something good in a relatively easy and inexpensive way. Canterbury Food Bank supports the community by helping to feed those in need – it gives out food parcels to those who are facing hard times, particularly around the Christmas period. You’ll benefit from the experience by helping support the city that you live in, as well as developing your communication skills, building your confidence, and working as part of a team to help make a project successful.

If you’d like to find out more, or to get involved, please email me at charityclinic@kent.ac.uk by Thursday 3rd December.
