Benefits of going on placement: Monday 2 November 2 – 3pm KS14
SSPSSR alumni Agnes Aynsley will talk about her experiences of going on a placement whilst at uni and how this has helped her secure a job at her graduate placement provider. She is now Team Manager at Addaction (Formerly known as KCA).
The talk will further include “all you need to know” about placements.

Does thinking about your career freak you out?
This is an interactive forum with past students from the Faculty of Social Sciences, including Economics, Business, Politics, Law, SSPSSR and Psychology.
Comprising very short presentations about unexpected careers and a Q&A session, followed by an informal chat over drinks and nibbles.

Canterbury District Citizens Advice is looking for an Outreach Advice Worker to deliver generalist advice to members of the public at their Whitstable Outreach. The ability to provide casework in either debt or benefits on occasion will be an advantage. You will meet the Citizens Advice competences for a generalist adviser and be keen to develop your skills.
An ability to work alone with access to supervision over the telephone is essential. You will have excellent communication skills and a commitment to promoting equality and diversity.

Sports Club
The Special Needs Advisory & Activities Project (SNAAP) have a number of opportunities requiring volunteers. You will help to ensure that the children and young people are safe at all times and are all able to participate in the activities provided as best they can.
Sports Club – This club is run for disabled children aged 8+ The sports club is a very lively club where children are able to let off steam after a busy week. The club will provide structured games and activities with the support of the volunteers. The club runs on Fridays from 3.30pm – 6pm at Prince of Wales Youth Club, Canterbury. Transport will be provided. Dates available: Friday 13th November, Friday 27th November, Friday 11th December. Please meet at the Student Activities Centre at 3pm.
Stay & Play
Stay & Play – This is an after school drop in session which allows parents of disabled children the opportunity to network whilst their children engage in a number of supervised activities. The club runs on Wednesdays from 4pm – 6pm at Windchimes, Herne Bay. Transport will be provided. Dates Available: Wednesday 4th November Wednesday 18th November Wednesday 25th November Wednesday 2nd November Wednesday 9th December Wednesday 16th December Please meet at the Student Activities Centre at 3pm.
Youth Club
Youth Holiday Scheme – This club is run for disabled children aged 11+ The youth club provides the opportunity for children to spend some time involved in a range of activities, these include: pool, computers, games consoles, crafts and outside play. Dates available: Monday 26th and Wednesday 28th October 10am – 2pm. The club takes place at Whitstable Youth & Community Centre. Transport will be provided. Please meet at the Student Activities Centre at 9.15am.
