Volunteer Pond Officer – fantastic conservation opportunity!

Calling all keen conservationists and nature-loving students!

Volunteer Pond Officer required for an 11-week project starting in Spring 2022

Would you like some hands on experience of e-DNA pond water sampling, with the opportunity to learn about Natural England’s pond restoration and creation scheme for Great Crested Newts?

KSCP is one of the habitat delivery bodies in Kent delivering the scheme. You will work alongside our GCN-licenced countryside partnership officers who will train you up and share their knowledge of wildlife ponds and the importance they have to the wider landscape.

The e-DNA monitoring runs from 15th April until 30th June when ponds are most active and we envisage needing help 2-3 days per week during this time. We have around 80 ponds to check and so your own transport is a necessity as most of the work will be in remote rural locations such as the Low Weald. Ideally the Volunteer Pond Officer would be active with a love of the outdoors and be able to carry a small amount of kit to each pond site.
