Are you Interested in an Economics Year in Industry?

If you are interested in learning more about the Year in Industry programme with the School of Economics, Dr Penelope Pacheco-Lopez will be holding a talk on the programme. She will provide information on what to expect from a placement year, the support available and what you should be doing now to ensure you are successful in applying for a placement next year. This talk is for all students, whether you are registered for the Year in Industry programme or not.

  • Pfizer Undergraduate Placements – application deadline 31st October

Pfizer currently have a variety of undergraduate roles live on their website commencing September 2022. Non-lab based roles are still open for application and will close 31st October 2021.

Students need to complete a Pfizer application form to apply.

  • Want to start a Career in Policy & Think Tanks? – 3rd November

Smart Thinking will be hosting an interactive, online webinar looking at careers in policy and think tanks. This will be particularly relevant to students who are considering a political or policy career.

  • Deloitte Insight Day – Economic Advisory – 4th November

Are you interested in using economic theory and analytical thinking to solve everyday business and policy issues? Economic Advisory is looking for graduates in Economics (Master’s/PhD) for graduate positions and 3rd year undergraduate students for internships in the London and Cambridge offices.

In the first of three interactive workshops to help you generate ideas, you’ll collaborate with other students find new business ideas using the Sustainable Development Goals for inspiration.

 

How to Dine – Wednesday 27th October – 2pm – 3.30pm 

This event will give you a great insight into dining etiquette and the different serving styles that you may be exposed to when attending formal dining events, such as Law Firm dinners and Barristers’ dinners.

LGBT, What does it mean – Friday 29th October 10am – 12.30pm 

Often, we’ll hear the phrase LGBT+ or even LGBTQIA+ but rarely do you get a chance to ask what all the initials mean in a safe and supportive environment.

This two-hour webinar is an opportunity to better understand what it means, why it’s so important, and how we can be better LGBT+ allies.

Are you interested in finding out whether a career in Accounting, Banking, Finance or Fintech could be for you? Do you want to learn more about what it’s really like to work in these industries? Or to understand what it really takes to be accepted onto those competitive grad schemes?

Then come along to our online Careers in Accounting, Banking, Finance and Fintech Week from 1-5 November 2021!

This virtual event is open to all students, regardless of degree subject or stage.

Throughout the week, we will be joined by a range of Kent alumni and employers, including Santander, Investment20/20, and Moore Kingston Smith.

Events will include: workshops on networking and selection tests; insight talks from employers; presentations on how to succeed in landing graduate roles and internships; and an alumni panel discussion of equality and diversity within these industries.

Remember: you can earn 10 Employability Points by attending each event, which can be redeemed later in the year for exclusive rewards!
