If you are an undergraduate student interested in working as an ambassador for the School of History and/or the University, please see here.
The Partnership Development Office are looking for postgraduate students who are interested in becoming postgraduate ambassadors to work with young people from the University´s local partner schools and colleges.
Postgraduate ambassadors are employed by their Academic School to develop and deliver sessions in local secondary schools or on campus. Some of these sessions are aimed at inspiring and encouraging young people to consider studying humanities and arts subjects at University and others are designed to help raise attainment in schools.
If you are passionate about your subject and would like to communicate your enthusiasm to young people or if you are thinking about teaching as a potential career, this scheme offers you the opportunity to undertake some practical teaching experience with young people. The work is paid and full training is provided by the Partnership Development Office. You will be supported in the development of sessions by the Faculty Subject Specialist, Lucy Rutter. You will need to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service check in order to work in schools.
The PDO need ambassadors for projects we are running shortly. If you are interested, you can apply by 19th October using this link. Please make sure you indicate that you are interested in the role of Academic Ambassador.
There will also be an information event on Friday 7th October in Keynes Lecture Theatre 6, between 12 and 2pm, where you can find out more and to meet postgrad ambassadors who are already working for the Faculty of Humanities. Refreshments will be provided, so please do let us know if you are coming along. If you would like to book a place at this event or for more information, please email Lucy on l.rutter@kent.ac.uk.
