The competition was fierce as teams vied for the prestigious title of VC’s Cup Ultimate Frisbee champion, infusing the atmosphere with high energy and a palpable sense of excitement. Each team was tasked with assembling a trio of players, who then combined forces with another team to form formidable “superteams” comprising six players each. The objective was simple yet challenging: pass the frisbee to a teammate in the “endzone” to score a point, with no specific requirements on the number of passes, and games lasting a thrilling 5 minutes each.

Day 1 of the event saw 13 teams engage in a round-robin tournament format, with Marlowe’s Marauders and DoNATS emerging as frontrunners, each securing at least one win out of their five games. The excitement continued to build as six new teams took to the field in the second hour, with Liquorice All Sports clinching the lead by a narrow margin over Chipperfield Circus and Fine Ants, adding to the electrifying atmosphere of the competition.

Day 2 brought even more intensity and drama as teams were divided into four groups based on their performance in the round-robin. Keepers of the Keys and Back to the Future (student) rose to the occasion, emerging as the victors of Group B and Group D, respectively, in the first hour. The excitement peaked in the second hour as Marlowe’s Marauders solidified their dominance, crowned winners of the VC’s Cup Ultimate Frisbee after securing three wins from three in Group A.

The return of Ultimate Frisbee not only showcased incredible sportsmanship and skill but also provided participants with some much-needed exposure to Vitamin D, enhancing the overall experience of the event. The sense of camaraderie and healthy competition was palpable, adding an extra layer of excitement to the proceedings.

Congratulations are in order for Marlowe’s Marauders for their well-deserved win, capping off a thrilling and action-packed tournament that left participants and spectators alike eagerly anticipating the next instalment of the VC’s Cup Ultimate Frisbee.
