This interactive event, taking place in the dedicated MBA Suite at Kent Business School and online via Teams, will be led by Caroline Knott, Jack Buxton and Shreyan Biswas – three Kent MBA students who are passionate about creating a more sustainable world. They will be joined by a panel of experts, each renowned for championing sustainability in their respective industries, and we are delighted to introduce the first two of these speakers.
Dr Dan Wright, Head of Sustainability at Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust
Kent alum Dan has more than a decade of experience in the sustainability, conservation and research sectors. In November 2020, he joined Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust as Head of Sustainability with responsibility for development and delivery of the trust’s ambitious sustainability strategy. The trust is one of the largest NHS community health providers in England, serving a population of more than 2 million across Kent, East Sussex and London. It has quickly become established as a national leader in the methodological approaches to emissions calculation and data tooling, with a whole host of accolades to its name including:
- Finalist for the AHSN and NHS Confederation Innovate Award ‘Net Zero Innovation of the Year 2022’
- Highly Commended Finalist for the AHSN and NHS Confederation Innovate Award ‘Net Zero Innovation of the Year 2023’
- Winner in the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) Kent, Surrey and Sussex Branch Awards for ‘Commitment to Environmental Sustainability 2023’
- Finalist for BBC Food and Farming Awards ‘Community Food Champion of the Year 2023’
In addition to his bachelors’ degree in Psychology from the University of Kent, Dan also has qualifications in Building Energy Demand from Loughborough University (PhD and MRes), and Environment and Sustainability with Geographic Information Systems from Birkbeck, University of London (MSc).
Lisa Whalley-Smith, Owner, Klarity Marketing
Lisa is a product marketer with 20 years of experience helping brands to raise awareness and grow sales. She has managed the marketing for well known alcohol brands, as well as smaller Kent based artisan brands. Most recently, as Head of Brand and Marketing, she managed the rebrand of Ecoegg laundry products, helped secure listings in Waitrose, Tesco and Sainsbury’s, and quadrupled their website sales in two years.
Certified as Carbon Literate and holding a recent qualification in Environmental Sustainability, she is passionate about sustainability and wants to encourage others, through education, to become sustainability champions.
