  • Interactive Statistics Pages: list of resources for performing statistical calculations put together by John C. Pezzullo, Associate Professor in the Departments of Pharmacology and Biostatistics at Georgetown University, in Washington, DC.
  • GeoConvert: geographical translation service: place UK postcodes by geographical location or enumeration district using the postcode look-up directories; hosted by the Census Dissemination Unit.
    Access to UK HE researchers is via the UK Federation option; you need to undergo an additional registration step for CDU services
  • Research Randomizer: this program uses a JavaScript random number generator to perform random sampling or assign participants to experimental conditions
  • SISA (Simple Interactive Statistical Analysis): enter values and use the tools to perform specific statistical functions
  • Statistics Calculators: another list of free calculators suitable for many statistical processes

General resources

  • National Statistics: website for the Government statistical body, National Statistics (formerly Office for National Statistics); provides data, and includes a searchable database of National Statistics products.
  • UK Data Archive: research resource hosted by the University of Essex; it allows people working in the HE sector to search for raw data from a wide range of important health, social science, and economic surveys
  • UK National Digital Archive of Datasets: preserves and provides access to computer datasets from UK government departments and agencies; aimed at all those with an interest in records of 20th century government decision making and planning, including researchers, social historians
