DESCRIPTION
50-year-old Mike visits his daughter Sophie at a university campus to spend the weekend with her. Unfortunately, she has little time for him. Surrounded by young people at an alien

loneliness.
ROLES AVAILABLE

Mollie
Sophie’s housemate and friend, drama student at university, mostly keeps to herself. She meets Sophie’s father Mike and has great conversations with him – they develop a platonic
but intimate relationship.
Anna

Jessica
Sophie’s workplace colleague at a restaurant, out-going, friendly.
MALES:
George + Harry
Two friends offering to accommodate Mike for the weekend at their place. Fun and extroverted, they end up inviting Mike to have a few drinks with them and having a great

Actors needed for Student Film

Film students Charlie and Abdul are making a short film, between 15-20 minutes long. They are seeking:

Male lead– A quiet, geeky type with social anxiety.

Female lead– A loud, confident, morally dubious drug dealer with high ambitions.

Secondary characters

The female lead’s girlfriend– A smart chemistry student who has developed her own drug.

Drug boss 1– An intelligent and confident authoritative character.

Drug boss 2– While an ostensibly calm and collected man, he harbours a psychotic streak.

Henchman- Considering this role is more based around being a threatening presence, someone of a bigger build is more sought after.

As well as these roles,  a runner for the film is required.

The film follows a socially awkward guy as he is drawn into the violent and exciting world of drug crime through his acquaintance with a mysterious girl.

If you wish to be in the film email both Charlie cp494@kent.ac.uk and Abdul  aj375@kent.ac.uk

Casting; Acting Opportunities

Calling all aspiring actors!

We, a group of three 3rd year drama students, are looking for 7 actors to fill character roles in our final “New Directions” performance. The piece is based on King Lear, and we will need up to 3 female and 4 male actors.

Please be aware that this is NOT part with your course, and therefore will not yield academic credit, and indeed has no association with any drama societies on campus.

The piece is around 25 minutes in length, and is set to include elements of many different types of theatre, including physical theatre and verbatim performance. Should you be successful, there will be multiple roles you may take on for the piece.

Auditions will be held in hourly slots from 6 – 9pm on Tuesday 15th November, in the Aphra Theatre. Do not feel the need to prepare anything in advance, as auditions will take place in a workshop style format.

If you are interested (and we hope many of you are), or have any questions at all, please email sh727@kent.ac.uk, and feel free to turn up to any of the hourly slots from 6 – 9pm.

We look forward to meeting you!
