Photonics Lab PhD student Mr Tianxiang Luan delivered a plenary presentation at the University of Kent Annual Postgraduate Research Conference, representing the School of Engineering, Mathematics and Physics.
His presentation, entitled “Optical Reservoir Computing and All-Optical Read-Out System,” introduced his research into advanced photonic computing technologies. Optical reservoir computing is a brain-inspired computing approach that exploits the high speed and parallel-processing capabilities of light for the analysis of complex signals and data.
Tianxiang’s research explores the development of an all-optical read-out system for optical reservoir computing. By reducing reliance on conventional electronic signal processing, this work has the potential to support faster and more energy-efficient computing and signal-processing systems.
The Annual Postgraduate Research Conference brings together postgraduate researchers from across the University of Kent to present their work, exchange ideas and develop interdisciplinary connections. Tianxiang’s plenary presentation provided an excellent opportunity to showcase the Photonics Lab’s research in optical intelligent computing to the wider University research community.
Congratulations to Tianxiang on delivering the plenary presentation and representing the School at this important postgraduate research event.
