Vice Chancellor’s Cup highlights: Golf

Challenge nine of the VC’s Cup saw teams compete in a ‘tee-rific’ series of golf challenges, including disc golf, foot golf and mini-golf, with each team driving for success.

Teams were required to put forward three players to represent their team in each of the three golf challenges. The Sports Development team raised the ‘par’, using the Pavilion grass pitches to design a mini-golf course and a largescale course, which was used for both disc and foot golf. Adding to the intensity of the games, the weather conditions were grey and windy, making it more difficult for the disc golfers. However, all players involved ‘putt’ their hearts into it and had a go!

Disc Golf

This included 5 holes and saw Liquorice All Sports and Marlowe’s Marauders a ‘putt’ above the rest, sharing 1st place in this challenge. DoNATS, Living La Vida Mocha and Finance grappled with a 3-team tie, to take 2nd place and Campus Sporting Exploits finished 3rd.

Foot Golf

Players used their foot skills to navigate 5 holes, with Living La Vida Mocha’s ‘par-serverance’ earning them the top spot. Liquorice All Sports and Kent Be Serious drew in 2nd place ahead of another 3-team tie for 3rd place between DoNATS, Marlowe’s Marauders and Happy Ravers.

Mini-golf

This saw teams tackle 9 holes, with Liquorice All Sports having the best game by ‘par’, once again drawing for 1st place, this time with Campus Sporting Exploits. This was closely followed by another tie between DoNATS and Kent Be Serious in 2nd with Happy Ravers finishing 3rd.

Rounding up

A massive thank you to all teams who participated in this ‘un-fore-gettable’ event. The willingness everyone showed to get involved and give it a go was ‘tee-riffic’. Great team spirit and camaraderie from everyone – it doesn’t get much putter than this!

As we progress through the Vice Chancellor’s Cup, the leaderboard has become fluid and tense. This round of golf has again shifted in top teams, moving Liquorice AllSports back up to 2nd place, just 1 point behind the leaders, Living La Vida Mocha. We look forward to ‘having a ball’ at the next event, rounders, on the 28 and 29 of June at the Pavilion Grass Pitches.
