Introducing Maria Staines, a third panellist for our MBA Guest Lecture this Friday

A hybrid event taking place on Friday 1 December, from 12:30 to 14:00 (UK time). Join us in person or online.

Maria Staines

This interactive event, taking place in the dedicated MBA Suite at Kent Business School and online via Teams, will be led by Caroline KnottJack Buxton and Shreyan Biswas – three Kent MBA students who are passionate about creating a more sustainable world. They will be joined by a panel of experts, each renowned for championing sustainability in their respective industries, and we are delighted to introduce a third speaker who has joined this panel.

Maria Staines, Pharmacist, NHS Kent and Medway, and Chair of Trustees for a local charity, Greener and Cleaner

Maria has over 15 years of hospital pharmacy experience and more recently system leadership in educational support and workforce transformation. While Maria doesn’t have a formal aspect of environmental sustainability within her professional role, she has influenced local and national change. As a member of Pharmacy Declares and Chair of Trustees for a local community environmental charity, she is passionate about embedding and normalising environmental sustainability within the home, community and in the pharmacy profession.

As a mother of two children and a healthcare professional, she is keen to encourage individuals to consider how we can develop spheres of influence and shifts in culture and understanding to build resilience and change in our homes and healthcare settings.

Maria says, “I’m really looking forward to joining the MBA students this Friday to share my journey of championing sustainability within my workplace, NHS pharmacy. The climate crisis is the biggest threat to population health that we have ever faced and making changes to our lives and workplaces to environmental sustainability is essential. Making a start can be daunting but I’m hoping that sharing my experience might help others see that it’s not only possible but also joyful and rewarding.”

If this is a subject close to your heart, do join us on Friday 1 December and get inspired!
