Introducing Will: Our KBS Student Social Media Officer in Medway

Working alongside his studies, William Pearce is the new Student Social Media Officer based at Kent Business School, Medway. In this blog, Will tells you a little about himself and how he can support you through your studies.

Introduce yourself

Hi, my name is Will and I am Kent Business School’s new Social Media Officer. I am currently studying the Business and Management course and I am in my third year. I took on the Social Media Officer role because I have a keen interest in the area and wish to improve my current skillset.

Describe your new role

I will be creating content for Kent Business School’s various social media channels to increase awareness of KBS as one of the UK’s leading business schools. Subsequently, I will be keeping an eye on current affairs that will (hopefully) lead to the curation of enticing material for student engagement.

How can students contact you?

I work in this role on Monday mornings, but I am very responsive to emails. Contact me at wp64@kent.ac.uk and we can arrange to meet virtually over Microsoft Teams if you want a more personal conversation during these strange times!

What advice would you give to first-year students?

Instil good habits into your system from the get-go and you will be successful. Ignore people who say “you only need to get 40% to pass your first year” because you will not thank yourself for having that attitude when you are hunting for graduate roles. Start assignments early, put the effort in, but most importantly enjoy your down-time at university too, as you cannot work hard all of the time!

What have you achieved from your time at university?

I came to university to build a wide variety of corporate skills and I have successfully completed many modules to achieve this goal. My time at Kent Business School has provided me with the confidence and resilience to tackle challenges that the business world will certainly throw at me when I graduate!

What do you hope to do after you complete your studies?

Secure a full-time job and my first home! Since I started university, I have always been keen to become a graduate consultant of some description. My keen interests are in technology and sport so hopefully I will find a role in these areas.

Students are welcome to contact Will for advice and guidance via email wp64@kent.ac.uk
