Tamsin Harris Recognised as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy

Tamsin Harris, KBS’s Programmes Administrator and Admissions Manager, has recently been recognised as a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA).

The Higher Education Academy (HEA) is an independent, national body working to champion teaching excellence in higher education. They focus on the particular contribution of teaching to positive student outcomes and experience. The HEA works in partnership with institutions to resolve key strategic challenges in higher education (HE) including; retention, assessment and employability.

HEA Senior Fellows are experienced HE managers able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of effective approaches to teaching and learning support as a key contribution to high quality student learning. They must also be able to evidence impact and influence through their leadership, management and mentoring. Senior Fellowship is awarded based on an application to the HEA which includes case studies, an account of their professional practice and references. Applicants have to demonstrate an understanding and adherence to the Professional Standards Framework.

It is always encouraging to have recognition of your work. I was particularly pleased that the award of Senior Fellowship of the HEA acknowledges a contribution made specifically to enhancing learning and teaching. I believe it is important to understand the value that professional services add in this area, supporting and working in collaborative partnership with academic colleagues to improve the student experience in key areas including, amongst others, assessment and feedback, quality enhancement, skills development and  internationalisation’. – Tamsin Harris
