Welcome to the seventh edition of our Kent Business School Newsletter for staff and students. As the new academic year begins, we would like to offer a warm welcome to all of our new students as well as welcoming back our current students and staff for another exciting year. This newsletter seeks to keep our community up-to-date with all of our latest news and developments as well as offering new opportunities for you to get involved.

Digital Ambassador Scheme Open for Applications

We’re looking for new and returning students who are interested in joining our paid Digital Ambassador programme. As a Digital Ambassador, you’ll represent Kent Business School to prospective home and international students who are considering studying at Kent. We’re looking for students who are creative and engaging, and would like to write for our blog, photograph for Instagram and create videos throughout their time as students studying at Kent Business School. Sibson Building Wins Architectural Award  

The newly-opened £37m Sibson building has been shortlisted in the inaugural Architects’ Journal Architecture Awards. The nomination is the second Sibson has achieved. Read the full article.

The Kent Foundation to Offer Skills Masterclass

As part of Global Entrepreneurship Week, The Kent Foundation is collaborating with ASPIRE to run an interactive masterclass on 15 November at Kent Business School to explore the different skills entrepreneurs use to be successful. Find out more.

The Ideas Café is a platform where staff and students can improve their networking and social skills through a variety of stimulating conversations and social events. Held on the first and last Tuesday of every month it is open to all.

Student Comment: Building Soft Skills at University

There is no doubt that every business school student should take part in group work as part of their programme. Having a repertoire of soft skills is essential in the world of work. Graduate employers will automatically expect you to have an array of people skills when you start a job, from emotional intelligence to your ability to work with others.  Alumni Profile: Panagiotis Mitropoulos

Panagiotis Mitropoulos graduated with an MSc in Logistics and Supply Chain Management from Kent Business School in 2015. Since then, he has been promoted to NFX Planner and Transport Operator at NFT Distribution Operations Ltd. We caught up with Panagiotis to see how his career has been progressing in the transport and logistics industry.

New Appointments

Jeremy HowellsProfessor of Innovation who has just joined us as a leading international researcher on innovation and has taught at Cambridge, Manchester and Oxford universities.

George Saridakis will be joining us in early December as Professor of Entrepreneurship and Small Business. George is currently based at Kingston where he is linked to the internationally regarded small business research centre.
