Pitch it! leads to more job opportunities for Kent Business School students

Students at the Kent Business School enhanced their employability prospects by pitching their business marketing ideas to a real-life business. Representatives of Ruskin Air Management Limited kindly sponsored the Kent Business School’s Pitch It! Initiative to set a real-life business challenge to teams of marketing students.

A well-established UK market leader in the field of air management solutions, Ruskin Air Management Limited enlisted the service of Kent Business School students to analyse the market and provide creative and practical recommendations for new marketing messages for the brand.

‘What is really great is the fact that we will be coming away with new ideas we hadn’t thought about which is a real bonus for us.’
David Fitzpatrick, Sales Director, Ruskin Air Management Ltd

The Pitch It! Initiative proved an all-round success, evidenced by the thoroughness of the research undertaken, the clever ideas and fresh perspective brought to the industry by the students.

‘I found the students all to be very well organised, professional and hold a good perception of the elements of the challenge we had set them. I was particularly impressed with their initiative and the amount of research they had all put into the task.’
Garry Bryant, Websites and E Marketing Administrator, Ruskin Air Management Ltd

The students welcomed this opportunity and said about the Pitch It that it brought a sense of realism to the work they were doing. The constructive feedback from industry professionals on the presentations and ideas put forward was highly valued by the teams.

‘It was nice to come up with and present our own ideas, and doing something real that truly makes a difference.’
Jon Laughton, BBA (marketing)

Besides securing a winning pitch, the reward for the students is primarily about enhancing their employability opportunities in preparation for their entry onto the job market at the end of their degree. Shaina Laughlin who is just finishing her BBA (Marketing) said this about the Pitch it!:

‘Pitch It is an opportunity to add to your CV. Meeting industry professionals makes the process of applying for job less daunting.’
