Selling, Kent

A walk in the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty

Excursion: For our next excursion we will be doing a circular walk in the orchards, fields and woods around Selling, a small village near Faversham and in the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Date: Wednesday 25 March 2020

Meeting time: 11.40pm

Meeting place: outside Canterbury East Railway Station, CT1 2RB

Number of participants: 8

Walking distance: 10km

Duration: approximately 3 hours walking, plus train travel from Canterbury to Selling and back

What do I need to know:

We will be walking on country lanes and footpaths up and down hills and through woods, orchards and fields. Giving the wet weather recently, the ground is likely to be very, very wet, so please wear appropriate footwear.

We will get the train at 11.47pm from Canterbury East to Selling – we will buy train tickets at 11.40, so if you want us to buy your train ticket, please arrive before then.

From Selling station we will walk a 10km loop through the countryside and finish back at Selling station. There is a cafe nearby where we could grab a cuppa at the end (if it is open – it has somewhat erratic opening hours!).

Please check the weather forecast, be sceptical, and make sure you’re appropriately dressed too.
