Led by Matt Adams, Ju Row Farr and Nick Tandavanitj, Blast Theory’s work places the public at the centre of unusual and sometimes unsettling experiences, to create new perspectives and open up the possibility of change. Founded in 1991, they have been nominated for four BAFTAs and won the Golden Nica at Prix Ars Electronica and the Nam June Paik Art Center Award. Blast Theory work nationally and internationally and have shown work at the Venice Biennale, Tribeca Film Festival, ICC in Tokyo, Hebbel am Ufer in Berlin, the Barbican and Tate Britain. Commissioners include Channel 4, Sundance Film Festival and the Royal Opera House.
“Interning at Blast Theory has improved my professional and personal confidence a massive amount. A career in the arts seemed very daunting and unachievable prior to this placement (…) however, with Blast Theory’s encouragement and teaching I feel like there are many more options available to me.”
– Alyx Ashton, Blast Theory intern in 2020/21
