The scheme supports 12 successful applicants aged 18-25 & based in the UK taking their first steps in factual TV/documentary jobs.
Closing date 24 Feb 2023.
The 2023 Grierson DocLab core training programme, now in its 11th year, the programme is currently open for applications – closing 24 Feb 2023.
The scheme supports 12 successful applicants aged 18-25 & based in the UK taking their first steps in factual TV/documentary jobs. They are looking for applicants who are keen to learn about the different behind the scenes roles in the industry, from editorial, who come up with programme ideas, to production management, who then help to bring the idea to the screen (more detailed information about the differences can be viewed in this careers map) – as well as people who have fresh perspectives and ideas on what they can contribute to the sector. The scheme aims to help people establish careers in factual TV/documentaries and it doesn’t require a related degree to apply – we welcome applications for all academic disciplines.
We welcome applications from those currently under-represented in the industry (which includes those from an ethnic minority background, from the LGBTQ+ community, disabled people, people from a lower socio-economic background, and from outside London – applicants have the opportunity to describe how they fit these criteria so the list is not exhaustive).
Trainees will get intensive training, an industry mentor match, a bursary-supported work placement, support with continuing professional development, an industry pass to Sheffield Documentary Pass, CV help and much more.
