The Yale Center for British Art presents an online panel discussion for college students who are interested in pursuing a career in museum conservation. The session brings together three professional conservators who will share their different pathways to becoming a conservator, discuss the wide range of duties they perform within their respective positions, and reflect on the opportunities and roadblocks they encountered on their journey into conservation. Participants will be able to ask questions using the online Q&A feature, and closed captioning will be available. This program is open to all undergraduates from any institution, regardless of major; attendees must preregister to receive the link.
The session will be chaired by Anita Dey, Samuel H. Kress Fellow in Paper Conservation, Yale Center for British Art, with panelists Melissa Davis King, Preventive Conservation Liaison at Conserv; Mariana Di Giacomo, Natural History Conservator at the Yale Peabody Museum and Chair of the Shared Conservation Laboratory at Yale’s Institute for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage; and Sarah Scaturro, Chief Conservator at the Cleveland Museum of Art.
