Make it yourself: zines and small press publications in Special Collections and Archives

Make it yourself is a co-created exhibition between artist Dan Thompson, the University of Kent’s Special Collections and Archives team, and you!

Have you ever been inspired to create something about your favourite band, performer or TV show? Is there a topic that means a lot to you that you’d like to share with others? Through this exhibition we hope to inspire and motivate you to create your own publication and share it with others.

The exhibition is on now and will run until end of April 2026. It is open to all – just come along to the Templeman Library on our Canterbury campus and head to the gallery space on A1.

Why not create your own zine to include in the exhibition! Just drop a copy of your created work to the Special Collections and Archives team in Templeman A|107 and we’ll add it to the display.
