Kent Law School alumnus Tapiwa Museba is hosting a top-ranking weekly commercial awareness podcast for current and aspiring corporate lawyers.
The Commercial Awareness Podcast, launched in October 2018, is now in its third season and is currently ranked number 15 on the Apple Podcasts (Great Britain) News Commentary list of all-time bestsellers.
Tapiwa, who graduated from Kent in 2017 with a Law LLB degree, is the creator, producer and host. Each week, he rounds up the weekly legal and corporate news for the benefit of prospective applicants to commercial law firms with the aim of helping them to develop commercial awareness.
Podcasts vary in length from between 10 and 20 minutes, usually comprising six headlines and three long reads. However, in recent weeks (and due to the COVID-19 pandemic), the format has been more flexible with the most recent episode (Episode 50: Greggs’ False Start, Artificial Inventors and more) comprising two long reads after the headlines. Links for all headlines that Tapiwa references are made available in the podcast episode description.
Kent Law School Lecturer Dr Ed Kirton-Darling was Tapiwa’s Family Law tutor during his LLB studies and is a big fan of his weekly show: ‘Tapiwa took part in a project where students and I interviewed practitioners for family law podcasts. His current podcast series is great! It provides a regular summary of commercial issues in an accessible, enjoyable way. And he’s also got an excellent voice for radio! I recommend it as a useful resource for any law student interested in developing their employability.’
The Commercial Awareness Podcast is available on all podcast streaming platforms.
