For those who may not know, Boccia is a thrilling Paralympic sport where the goal is to roll or throw your ball closest to the jack. Played indoors on a badminton-sized court, participants use blue or red soft leather balls, adding a unique twist to the game.
We were thrilled to welcome Jan and Gabby from England Boccia, who did a fantastic job delivering the event. Each lunch hour kicked off with Jan and Gabby explaining the rules and format to the eager 12 teams participating.
The competition was fierce. Keepers of the Keys went on the attack, maintaining an undefeated streak throughout the event and emerging victorious, knocking Liquorice AllSports off the top spot on the VC’s Cup leaderboard. Hot on their heels were the runners-up, Campus Sporting Exploits, who also performed brilliantly, narrowly missing out on the top spot. Team SPP Power secured an impressive 3rd place finish, marking their highest achievement in the VC’s Cup this year.
The event was a huge hit, with staff members thoroughly enjoying themselves. A massive shout-out to Jan and Gabby from England Boccia for hosting such a fantastic event! It was the perfect blend of competitiveness and camaraderie in a relaxed, social environment.
And the excitement isn’t over yet—only two events left in the Vice Chancellor’s Cup, so stay tuned!
Next up: VC’s Cup Garden Games on Tuesday 6 and Thursday 8 July 2024.
