9 of our VC Cup teams ventured out to Boom Battle Bar in Canterbury, where we were able to host an array of Pub Games for our player’s enjoyment. Four games were on offer for the evening; Augmented Reality Darts, Drinks Pong, Shuffleboard, and the highly anticipated, Axe Throwing! All teams had the opportunity to play each game for 30 minutes before rotating to the next.
First up was Darts, but with a twist! Augmented reality darts left our players with an array of challenges and endless fun with Boom Battle Bar’s unique dart boards. Participants aimed for the highest scores on the board to achieve the winning title. Chipperfield Circus and Ins and Outs both proved they have the tactical eye with their precise throws, earning them 3 points each on the leader board for their wins.
Drinks Pong, a University classic for our University staff. Players had to throw and/or bounce a Ping Pong ball into the opposition’s stack of cups. On a successful throw, the cup was removed, and players had to drink as comeuppance. Return of the Mac and Campus Sporting Exploits showed us their keen eye for cups, as they managed to sweep their opponents cups away with ease, earning them points on the leader board.
Shuffleboard was tense, with players gliding their pucks down the table into designated areas to earn points, knocking the opposition pucks off the table where possible to prevent them obtaining the lead. The team with the highest scoring points on the table at the end of the game were appointed the winners. SPPecials and Infomaniacs stormed ahead of the competition, both with 3 rounds won.
Axe throwing was the highlight of the evening, where players used their strength to throw an axe towards the bullseye on the board in front of them, counting up their overall score of accuracy as they went. Liquorice All Sports and DoNATS both topped their opponents scores, leaving them with a win in this game.

It was amazing to see all of our staff getting to know one another in a social setting, getting to know each other and play off in different games. Lets see how well they play in the next event, VC Cup Rounders!
