Kent Sport member Daniel Olusina has just qualified for the National Finals in the MASS Student Physique Championship, to be held in London on 25 April. Daniel is a 21 year old undergraduate at the University of Kent, and third year Actuarial Sciences student, from Rainham, in Essex.
This is the culmination of some 18 months of concerted training and coaching after being spotted by his training coach, Mike Burrell, at the Kent Sport fitness suite: “We have been working together over many months, identifying weaknesses and overcoming them in both physique, and also posing techniques for the stage.”
Daniel started training just 3 ½ years ago, when he looked like this:
Since then, he has gradually improved and now trains five times per week, plus dedicated posing practise sessions and pre-contest preparation with his other coach Chuk Uzowuru.
Over the last 18 months, his dedication has been total in both the Kent Sport fitness suite, and in the classroom, gaining consistent top marks in order to get him that one stage closer to becoming an Actuary with an insurance company. It is this total dedication that has gained him his first win, and this physique:
He won three awards, including ‘Best Legs’ and ‘Overall Winner’ in his regional contest. When interviewed, Dan said “It is incredible what hard work and consistency can accomplish. Everyone is capable of building an aesthetic physique to be proud of. It’s just a matter of being consistent and never giving up even when the going gets tough.”
So congratulations to Daniel on his success so far and good luck in the finals! For details about personal training and other services available at Kent Sport visit www.kent.ac.uk/sports/healthandfitness/fitnessconsults.html and have a chat with our Fitness Team in the Sports Centre.
