Kent Sport hosts Walk for Water

In aid of Walk for Water, nearly 200 local school children walked six kilometers around Kent Sport’s playing fields on 22nd March 2013, raising over £2,400. Arranged by the Chestfield Rotary Club, it is the third year that Kent Sport has been able to host this fantastic event.

Oli Prior, Kent Sport’s Health, Fitness and Performance Manager, made sure the walkers were properly warmed-up on the astro-pitch before they set off. The children particularly enjoyed a Gangnam style routine as part of the warm-up activity. With six litres of water in their rucksacks they started and finished at the University of Kent Sports Pavilion.

Lee Thompson, Outdoor Facilities Manager said, “It was great to see the children enjoying the Kent Sport facilities while undertaking such a worthwhile challenge. We were pleased to plan and provide the course for the walkers. The children really enjoyed the day and the sponsored walk proved very successful.”

Kent Sport will be hosting this again event next year and Chestfield Rotary Club provided a certificate in recognition of the ongoing support of this event.
