In a high stakes final game of the season, Classic XI drew with second place Panthers to clinch the title by a single point.
180 players competed in another enjoyable season of KAFL. Hosted on Saturdays throughout term time, KAFL gives University of Kent students, staff and alumni the opportunity to compete in social and competitive 11-a-side football.
Classic, Panthers and Average Old Boys all enjoyed strong seasons with just two points separating the three teams. A mix of strong organised defending and clinical finishing helped these teams win 9 out of their 12 games.
In mid table UKC Thunder and Mozzers enjoyed some good performances to end the season with a respectable points tally. False 9 and KMMS showed great fight throughout the season but lacked the consistency to challenge higher up the table.
Thomas Eynaud (Classic XI) won the golden boot with 13 goals while Manu Barath (Panthers) just missed out with 12 goals. Ben Tatam won the top assister accolade with 8, beating nearest rivals Hafizhan Hafishul (Classic XI) and Oliver Buckley (Panthers). Ewan Logan won the golden glove with 2 clean sheets to his name.
KAFL will return in term 3 with the cup competition. Please visit the KAFL webpage to find out how to join a team. Alternatively you can emailĀ sportsdevelopment@kent.ac.uk for more information.
