Classic XI completed the double with a 3-1 win over Average Old Boys in a hard-fought KAFL Cup final. League champions Classic XI had booked their place in the final with a 4-2 semi-final win over Mozzers, while Old Boys had knocked out second-placed Panthers.
The KAFL league had concluded for the season, and the cup competition, which ran during the summer term, wrapped up with an exciting final. The match was competitive from the start, but Classic XI’s final third clinical finishing proved decisive. Ike Ogbonna was the standout, scoring twice, while Fin Perkins added a third. Old Boys battled well but couldn’t find a way back into the match.
Ben Mayasilua was sent off for the Old Boys after picking up two yellow cards. Despite the defeat, they can be proud of their cup run.
Players from Classic XI, Average Old Boys, and other KAFL teams will now come together for the upcoming All Stars match against Kent FC.
It was great to see over one hundred players participating in this year’s edition of the KAFL League and Cup!
