The Vice-Chancellor’s Cup is going strong and competition is fierce. Once a month, staff members gather together in teams to vent their frustrations by crushing their opponents in a battle of the wills.
Actually, it’s all in good fun.
Introduced in 2011, The Vice-Chancellor’s Cup is an interdepartmental staff competition for anyone and everyone who’s interested in keeping active, but also wants to have fun in a relaxed environment.
This year, so far the competing teams have enjoyed dodgeball, netball, badminton, table tennis and petanque. All the competitors have had a chance to get their heart rates up with plenty of laughter along with some exercise.
Just over half way through the tournament with four games left, anything could happen before we have a crowning champion team. The next session will bring back memories and let teams relive their School Sports Day, beginning on Tuesday 10 June at 1pm at the grass pitches. Why not come along to cheer your friends and colleagues on?
Currently going the distance is team Uniquely Essentials, the 2013 reigning champions, with a 10-point lead. Running interference is team Biocelona from Biosciences in second and keeping the ball rolling in joint third are Kent ‘B’ Serious from Kent Business School and Sporting Chance from Kent Sport.
With only a few more opportunities to bump up their scores, the competitors are strategising their next moves – it is anyone’s game at this point.
The teams are ready to strike in the last four events – you don’t want to miss out on the results. For updates, like us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter @UniKentSports. Bring it on!
