We wrapped up the intra-mural football season in fantastic fashion with our annual All Stars games. With 64 players representing ICFL, KAFL, and Kent FC, participation levels were high, highlighting the strength and popularity of our intra-mural football provision. The Pavilion balcony was packed with friends and supporters, creating a great atmosphere that perfectly rounded off the season.
The ICFL and KAFL All Stars teams were formed by selecting the best players from each league, bringing together top talent from the Inter College Football League and the Kent Amateur Football League. Kent FC represent the University of Kent in BUCS football.
Match 1: KAFL All Stars 1-0 Kent 2s
The first match saw the KAFL All Stars take on Kent 2s. KAFL All Stars defended resolutely, with their goalkeeper putting in a standout performance, making multiple key saves to keep Kent at bay. A well-taken goal by Tam gave KAFL All Stars the edge. Even after going down to 10 men following Xian’s second yellow card, the team showed great team spirit, putting bodies on the line to protect their lead. The KAFL All Stars keeper, Keiron, was rightly named Man of the Match for his heroic display.
Match 2: ICFL All Stars 2-1 Kent 1s
The second game pitted the ICFL All Stars against Kent 1s in a fiercely contested midfield battle. Kent 1s enjoyed more possession but struggled to create chances in the final third. Moussa opened the scoring for ICFL all stars with a composed finish, followed by an own goal that doubled their lead. Kent 1s pulled one back through Eden’s header from a corner and created several late chances including a one-on-one and a last-minute free kick but the ICFL All Stars defence held strong. Moussa earned Man of the Match honours for his dynamic attacking play and crucial goal.
Overall, the All Stars games were a brilliant way to celebrate a successful season and it was great to see so many people involved playing and watching. We look forward to another great year of football ahead!
