Last week, VC Cup Boccia brought something different to the table—and it was an absolute hit! In a sport where power takes a backseat to precision, teams traded boots for boccia balls and entered the arena with focus, strategy, and no shortage of competitive spirit.
Adding to the magic of the day were two absolute legends from the world of boccia: Jan from Boccia England, and champion Gabby, who guided, inspired, and officiated like pros. A massive round of applause goes to them for not just running the show, but for welcoming everyone into the sport with warmth, enthusiasm, and expert insight.
Congratulations to Marlowe’s Marauders, who adapted quickly to this tactical sport and emerged victorious with a clean 20 points. Their cool heads, accurate throws, and calm communication under pressure saw them take the top spot in style.
In second place, just one point behind, was Return of the Mac, who showed incredible consistency and control throughout. Their team dynamic and steady play earned them 19 points, plus a well-earned bonus for great spirit.
Flying up the leaderboard thanks to a well-played Joker, the Flu Fighters soared to third place with 37 points! Already strong on the court with 18 points and a bonus for enthusiasm, their Joker move doubled their score and changed the game. A bold play—and it paid off!
What made Boccia special was how different it felt—slower, calmer, but incredibly intense. Every roll counted, and success came from teamwork, communication, and strategy rather than speed or strength. For many, it was a first introduction to the sport—and judging by the smiles, it won’t be the last.
A huge thank-you again to Jan and Gabby for not only officiating the matches with style and fairness, but for bringing genuine excitement, professionalism, and accessibility to a sport that was new for so many. You made the event unforgettable!
